Inexpensive, Ecofriendly Solutions
The following items can be used for so many things. They are environmentally friendly and inexpensive.
Vinegar: *Smell will disappear once liquid evaporates.
- Toilet ring remover: Flush. Pour full strength under rim. Scrub.
- Floors: Mix with water. Safe for tile.
- Counters & stoves.
- Fabric softener: 1/2 cup to rinse cycle. This is great for those with sensitive skin as it breaks down the laundry detergent more.
- Pet urine smells: Mix one part water, one part apple cider vinegar. Clean up the current pee spot by blotting as much as you can. Spray the spot and blot again. Let it dry completely. After dry, reapply, making sure you saturate all the way into the foam. Let dry completely.
- Spray or blot full strength on sunburns after bathing.
Baking Soda
- Use as a scouring powder on counters and stoves. It is good for cleaning KoolAid off of counters with a little "elbow grease" and is not harsh like abrasive cleaners.
- Baby spit/vomit odor
- Refrigerator refresher. Put a box in the back of the fridge and replace every three months.
- Neutralize diaper pail and garbage can odors. Sprinkle in the bottom of empty containers.
- Add a cup to bath water. It softens skin.
Lemons
- Cut a lemon in half, dip in baking soda and scour counters and stains on counters.
- I'm told it shines copper but at this time, I do not have a formula for that sort of thing. Perhaps I will once I do some more research.
