The challenge is to reuse and repurpose items before
the final recycling phase. Rethink tossing out those cans, plastic bottles, broken mirrors, glassless picture frames... Beautiful things can be created from reused
(and broken) items.

Reduce packaging and other forms of excess. Be sure to rethink those "value packs" that you normally purchase. You're paying for extra packaging... For what, I ask? Why does it cost more on a value pack on certain products? Compare these types of items the next time you shop. Take pics with your camera phone and email them to me. Be sure to include the shelf tag in the same picture. It must be clearly marked for our viewing pleasure. We must ask these companies "Why?".
Reuse what you have. Repurpose, upcycle, etc... Whatever you call it... REUSE IT!!
Recycle should be the last phase in a product's life cycle - IF it's an option at all. Not everything can be recycled even though they have the number with the triangular arrows surrounding it. It's very confusing as well as misleading. Yogurt cups, for example, can't even be recycled - even though it has the number 2 with the arrows around it on the package. The numbers simply reflect the type of plastic category. Milk jugs, on the other hand, are recyclable. The plastics industry refuses to change this misleading bit of information. At this point, I simply have to avoid those manufacturers that attempt to deceive us with such false advertising.
Let's look at more of the current guidelines on this. Let's prolong the avoidance of the landfills. Landfills are big business. Let's prove that proper recycling techniques are even bigger business.
